When God Speaks Through Encouragement
Lately, I’ve been walking through a season of doubt. Not doubt in God—but in myself. I truly believed I was following His leading when I opened my home and heart to help someone in need. I prayed about it. I waited. I acted in faith.
But now the situation is messy. The person I tried to help is struggling with addiction, and it’s taking a toll. The late-night demands, the instability, the emotional and spiritual weight—it’s hard. I’ve found myself asking, Did I really hear God right? Did I make a mistake?
And just as those questions began to echo louder than truth, something began to happen.
First, a woman I deeply respect spoke words I didn’t expect—calling me wonderful things because of how I’ve chosen to live and serve. The next day, someone else I had helped in the past reached out and called me a rock star. It made me smile, yes—but more than that, it reminded me that my life, even in its quiet and often hidden efforts, is seen.
And then today, at the gym, a woman who recently came to Christ greeted me with joy. She shares her new faith so openly online, and I told her how much I enjoyed her posts. She smiled and said, “I really enjoy yours—they’re so uplifting.”
Three people. Three unexpected voices. And each one felt like God Himself whispering, “Don’t give up. You’re still where I want you. You’re still bearing fruit.”
None of these moments were accidents. They were divine affirmations—gentle reminders that even when we doubt ourselves, God hasn’t changed His mind about us.
The truth is, helping broken people will break your heart sometimes. You can love them, pray for them, do everything right—and still feel like it’s falling apart. But obedience is never wasted, even when it doesn’t look like success.
I may not know what tomorrow will bring. I may need to set new boundaries or take a different approach. But I know this: God is still with me in this. And He’s still speaking—through smiles, through encouragement, through unexpected words of kindness—just enough to keep walking forward.
And if you’re in a season like mine—tired, uncertain, questioning—maybe this is His voice for you too:
You are seen. You are loved. And your obedience matters.
